Assignments

Each project will be graded on degree of difficulty, complexity, realism, artistry, and requirement completenessREQUIREMENTS:

  • No folders in dropoff drive.
  • Render out 720x486 iff format.
  • Composite iff's to Quicktime format using Sorenson 3 compression.
  • Only submit Quicktime movie files.
  • No maya or after effects files.
  • Proper File Names: NO CREDIT FOR IMPROPERLY NAMED FILES
    • THE NAMING CONVENTION IS:
      • CA3D_480_SU07_FirstName_LastName_ProjectName.takenumber.mov

Suggestions & Tips:

  • Incremental Progress: Hand in playblasts and progress versions of you projects each week to improve your grade.
  • Design: Don’t use complex geometry or much geometry at all. Simple geometry will make your life (assignment) much easier.
  • Priorities: Don’t spend a lot of time modeling or animating. This is a Particle Effects class – therefore spend your time making the particles look good.
  • Planning: Don’t forget to leave ample time for the final rendering and compositing stages (I suggest that you plan to spend a full week rendering and compositing because of the slowness of the network and competition for computer resources at the end of the semester).
