I love open source stuff and visual effects. It's my dream to one day have a studio where we use all open source stuff... But right now here are some hang ups with just regular day-to-day stuff that I can't get working in linux.
- Podcasts - I can't get songbird on Ubuntu to download podcasts. Thus I use iTunes on windows to sync my library.
- Playing movies - VLC on ubuntu can't keep up the frame rate at fullscreen like it can in Windows.
- TrackMania -- Love this windows only driving game. Tried Drift and a few other driving games on ubuntu and couldn't get them working
- Video editing -- Couldn't get cinelerra working on ubuntu so have to use Adobe Primere on Windows.
- DVD Authoring -- Couldn't get some of the dvd authoring tools working on ubuntu and so use Adobe Encore on Windows.
Such a sad story. I had such high hopes for Ubuntu.
